This book is useful to both pulmonologists and gynecologists and obstetricians, the postgraduate students of both the disciplines. Tuberculosis has been a major cause of illness and death worldwide for ages and still continues to be so as a major health problem. Tuberculosis (TB) though mostly affects the lungs; it can affect all the organs of the body including genital organs. The greatest disease burden is during the childbearing years that are between 15 and 49 years with 80% of all deaths from TB occurring in this age group. There is a lack of study on genital infection. Hence this book brings out the relationship between pulmonary tuberculosis and genital affection. Early diagnosis of genital TB is difficult, by the time a patient presents as a case of infertility, the Fallopian tubes are already blocked or tubal functions are already affected. Conception does occasionally occur, but the pregnancy must be monitored carefully for possibility of an ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage. MDR-TB is a worldwide problem in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised population which is dealt here in this book. Vaccines against TB and future of TB treatment are the additional benefits that are provided to the readers.
